Australian Sunscreen Council Proud to Support Noosa Concours d’Elegance as an Event Partner

The Australian Sunscreen Council is proud to be listed as an Event Partner for the upcoming Noosa Concours d’Elegance, one of Queensland’s most prestigious motoring, lifestyle and community events.

Held on the iconic Hastings Street in Noosa, the Concours brings together rare classic cars, modern performance vehicles, luxury brands, fashion, dining, art, live music and thousands of visitors for a celebration of design, craftsmanship and community. With more than 30,000 members of the public expected to attend, the event is also an important opportunity to promote practical, evidence-based sun safety in one of Australia’s most beautiful outdoor settings.

The Australian Sunscreen Council is especially pleased to support the event’s volunteers and stewards, many of whom will spend long hours outdoors helping visitors, exhibitors and vehicle owners enjoy a safe and memorable day. Large outdoor events rely on the dedication of volunteers, and protecting them from unnecessary UV exposure should be a priority.

Supporting a Great Free Community Event

Noosa Concours d’Elegance is more than a motoring event. It is a free community celebration that opens Hastings Street to the public and showcases Noosa as a destination for culture, tourism, design and Australian excellence.

The Australian Sunscreen Council is proud to stand alongside other major supporters and event partners, including the Queensland Government, RACQ, Viva Energy Australia and Noosa Council.

The event has also been featured by major tourism and motoring organisations, including Queensland.com, Visit Sunshine Coast and RACQ, reflecting its growing importance as a Queensland lifestyle, tourism and community event.

Readers can also view last year’s national media coverage in the Australian Financial Review, which covered the world of classic car restoration and rare vehicles at Noosa Concours d’Elegance in its article, “How forgotten ‘barn finds’ become dream cars worth millions”.

For the Australian Sunscreen Council, the partnership is a natural fit. Sun safety is not only relevant at beaches, schools and worksites. It matters at every outdoor event where Australians gather for long periods in the sun.

Sun Safety Is More Than Just Sunscreen

The Australian Sunscreen Council encourages visitors, volunteers and exhibitors to think of sunscreen as one part of a broader sun safety plan.

For an all-day outdoor event, the best protection comes from combining practical measures:

·         Wear UPF rated long-sleeved clothing where possible;

·         Choose a broad-brimmed hat that protects the face, ears and neck;

·         Use sunglasses with UV protection;

·         Seek shade during breaks and while waiting in queues;

·         Apply SPF50 broad-spectrum sunscreen to exposed skin;

·         Reapply sunscreen at least every two hours, and more often if sweating;

·         Bring water and plan rest breaks, especially for volunteers and stewards on longer shifts.

Physical protection should always come first. Shade, clothing, hats and sunglasses reduce the amount of UV reaching the skin before sunscreen is even needed. Sunscreen then plays an important role on exposed areas that cannot easily be covered.

A Special Message for Volunteers and Stewards

Volunteers are the backbone of events like Noosa Concours d’Elegance. From helping with vehicle placement and guest support to answering questions and keeping the event running smoothly, their work often happens in full sun and across many hours.

The Australian Sunscreen Council encourages all volunteers to prepare before arriving.

Apply sunscreen before your shift starts, not after you are already outside. Bring your own sunscreen for top-ups, even if sunscreen is available on site. Wear a hat and sunglasses where your role allows. Use shaded areas for breaks. Check in with other volunteers during the day and remind each other to reapply sunscreen.

Small habits make a major difference when repeated across a full day outdoors.

Promoting Smarter Sun Protection in Australia

Australia has one of the highest UV environments in the world, and sun safety should be treated as a normal part of planning any major outdoor event. The Australian Sunscreen Council’s role is to help Australians make informed choices about UV exposure, sunscreen use and practical protection.

Events such as Noosa Concours d’Elegance provide a positive way to share that message. Visitors can enjoy the event, support the local community, celebrate automotive excellence and still take simple steps to protect their skin.

The Australian Sunscreen Council congratulates the organisers, volunteers, partners and supporters of Noosa Concours d’Elegance and is proud to support this outstanding free community event.

We look forward to helping visitors and volunteers enjoy the day safely under the Queensland sun.
